The Blackfordby Wildlife Group was started up by Blackfordby Village
resident and wildlife enthusiast, Brian Hammond, with a view to
furthering the interest and understanding of the natural environment
surrounding the village, which lies in the very north-west corner of
Leicestershire, bordering on Derbyshire and Staffordshire, with
Warwickshire being not too far away.
The Group now has monthly meetings which feature guest speakers, and
are usually held in The Old School Room, Blackfordby. Talks cover a wide
range of subjects and a broad geography - not just the local wildlife.
It is expected that future programmes will include a number of group visits to local wildlife 'hotspots'.
Since its inception, it has grown to attract people from outside the village and guests are always made welcome.
Membership for the group is charged at £15 per annum and gives a reduction on admission charges for each of the 12 annual meetings, plus voting rights. Membership is open to all.

The talks are always very interesting and a welcome addition to Blackfordby's social calendar. Highly recommended.
